TOGAF Overview The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) is a framework - a detailed method and a set of supporting tools for planning, developing, maintaining, and gaining value from an Enterprise Architecture. It may be used freely by any organization wishing to develop an enterprise architecture for use within that organization. TOGAF 9 encompasses the entire enterprise architecture life cycle, which is important as architecture is a never-ending journey, always changing and evolving. The figure below depicts the TOGAF Architecture Development Method(ADM) which covers the entire architecture life cycle. There are the six major components of TOGAF which includes:

1. The Architecture Development Method(ADM) Purpose: How to manage enterprise architecture? 2. ADM Guidelines and Techniques Purpose: How do we apply the ADM? 3. Architecture Content Framework: Deliverables, artifacts, building blocks Purpose: How do we map all necessary information? 4. The Enterprise Continuum: The Architecture Repository Purpose: How can we maximize the recycling of existing architectures? 5. TOGAF Reference Models Purpose: How do we build on industry-practice models? 6.
