Description

Topic 5 DQ 3 Provide a sample in-text citation that you plan to use in your evaluation essay you are currently writing. Use one of the head/body/tail combinations from our textbook (Chapter 2). Then create a second citation for the same source, but use a different head/body/tail combination. As the week progresses, comment on your classmates' in-text citations. Do you think they were cited correctly? Why or why not? How do different patterns create different impressions about the source? Hello Prof. P. and Classmates, The following is a sampled paraphrase from the essay I have been working on from the add.org website.

By reviewing a site for currency it is vital to check for when the document was created, what was the last time it was revised, are the links operational and if so are they dead or currently up to date ("Evaluating Web Pages: Questions to Consider", 2019). Here's the rework of that paraphrase. I haven’t done it this way that much because I don’t feel strong enough with this type of paraphrase yet. Evaluating Web Pages: Questions to Consider (2019), reviewing a site for currency is important to check in order to see when the document was created when it was last updated, are the links up to date and in working in order.

Replies Hello Paeton, The first one is good for an in-text citation. But man, I really like that second one. It seems a lot stronger to me. Well done on the second one for sure. I am not completely sure why you have ADHD in ( ). I'm assuming that you already gave the acronym meaning earlier in your paper so I think you can remove the parenthesis (ADHD) and just have ADHD. But overall, I think the second one is an outstanding paraphrase.

Hello Arisleida, I like your paraphrase. It shows that there could be other reasons why children are being disruptive in class. This suggests that children like to talk and are usually just pretty busy individuals and that people shouldn’t automatically assume that a child has ADHD. I could be all wrong about this since I am just reading a small part of what you have written. I would make one adjustment to your paraphrase. Yours: All teachers perceived that a lot of children have disruptive behavior in various school situations, (Hogea, Aungurence, Anghel, (2017). Mine: All teachers perceived that a lot of children have disruptive behavior in various school situations, (Hogea, Aungurence, & Anghel, 2017). And subsequent ref would look like this (Hogea et al, 2017)

Hello Natasha, I like that reference. I guess that explains why you get the question are you a robot and then you have to click on pictures. Less then 60% is a high number and I just figured it would be lower since people are always on the internet. It makes me curious as to how someone would write a robot program to surf the web and just randomly click on tabs or whatever it does in order to show that the web page is active. There is one small correction that needs to be made to your reference though. Yours: (Read, 2018, para. 2) Mine: ("Read", 2018, para. 2) I just added the quotation marks around "Read". You can find it in the GCU style guide on page 4. But other than that it looks great....
