Summary

Taking ownership of your own learning. It is about personal responsibility. ...

Description

What does it mean to take ownership of your own learning? I think taking ownership means taking responsibility for what is expected of you. It involves being pro-active in your work. For example; Asking questions, taking down notes, interacting with your fellow classmates as well as engaging with your instructor when you need extra guidance or understanding. This is also called active learning. Active learning allows for the student to play an active role in class participations. Passive learning involves more of receiving information by the learner from the instructor. It is a time to make assessments rather than giving feedback. What is the role of the course instructor in the learning process? The course instructor plays the role of guidance by providing students with the information and resources they need to be able to do their studies well. An instructor should also be there as a helper to the student. When students have questions or need clarification on a subject, the instructor should come in as a mentor.

What is the role of peer assessment in the learning process? Peer assessment provides a platform for students to develop a skill or ability to be able to make self-assessments of their own work as well as be able to assess the work of a peer. I also think ownership by the student to assess a fellow student is very important because it means you are taking proactive steps to ensure your work is done.
