WHAT DOES HEALTH MEAN TO YOU? The WHO (World Health Organization) provides a definition of health and well-being: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” (WHO, 2017) Do you believe that WHO’s definition of health and well-being tells the whole story? Using your own words, write down your own definition of health and well-being below. I believe that WHO’s definition of health and wellbeing doesn’t tell the whole story because health and wellbeing is very dependent on an individual’s goals and what goals someone has for their own health. It really depends on the individual ‘s experiences and their upbringings and what they have been through previously. Therefore, to me, health and wellbeing does mean staying physically active, eating healthy and allowing your body to rest, despite the busyness of life. But it also means surrounding yourself with the right people and putting yourself in the right environment to feel mentally stable and happy. Reflection is not just letting your mind wander or daydreaming about things that have happened to you. The reflective process, when it is undertaken properly, is quite complex. Think about something that has happened to you recently at the university, at work or at home. It does not have to be related to your study, just think about a recent situation or experience that has happened to you.

WHAT What happened? What is the situation or experience that you are reflecting upon? What did you do? What did you observe? • SO WHAT? What difference did it make to you? Why did it matter to you? What impact has it had on you? • WHAT NEXT? What are you going to do with what you have learned from the experience? How has it built on what you already know and can do? What will you think/do in the future? Write up your reflection below. What? My experience of doing online invigilated exams last semester was something I had never done before and I found myself to be rather overwhelmed. I observed myself to be way more nervous than usual during the exams. My facial expressions and behaviour was rather excessive. The time it took for me to complete the answers was longer than I had anticipated as I was in a state of confusion and distress as this was a unique experience and as a result I failed to complete all of the answers. So what? As this was my first time completing an invigilated exam being monitored and as I felt feelings of anxiety and distress is the main reason I was unable to complete all answers. It made me realise that I am used to organising and solving problems on paper rather than trying to figure out answers in my mind without writing down which took much longer. Moreover, it is difficult for me to solve and type answers in a short time and as I was unable to complete all questions, I felt as though I had let myself down. However, from this experience I learned that I need to apply myself in a more efficient and effective way in the future to these type of exams. What next? As there are online invigilated exams for other subjects in this semester and having gained an experience from last semester will be beneficial to my approach this semester. I will feel

less anxious and perform more effectively as I know what I need to improve on. In doing so, I will try to train my typing skills and speed and also type more instead of writing down on paper. I will also try to organise my ideas and solutions in my mind rather than on paper. This will allow me to train my thought processes to consider and organise ideas in a faster way....
