ADOC, MARIA ANGELICA S. BA COMMUNICATION 1

1. What do you value most in life? Being able to understand something or someone’s value is a concept I really admire in a perplexing structure of living. And in my nineteen years of existence, I learned that value isn’t always something we can easily determine. Relationships, vices, things—these are the common answers when asked by this question. Though family is important more than anything in the point of view of the majority, for me it’s not the physical composition that I value, it’s the moments spent with them, the unexpected ones to be specific. Every unexpected scene that occurred in my life is the reason I want to live my life to the fullest. It’s the only thing I can keep and obtain whenever the physical composition of the noun I value, vanishes. It is indeed a rollercoaster ride of emotions when you value unexpected moments. The catharsis in every juncture is an experience that is so distressing and satisfying at the same time. I value such thing because it is the fulfilling tool to the void of my nihilistic psyche.

2. What do you find meaningful? Words are what I find meaningful. It’s true that actions speaks louder than words, but words gives us an assurance that we really mean those actions. Whether someone is lying or telling the truth, whatever he/she says, tells a lot about who he/she is. Imagine the struggle of not being able to express your feelings and ideas or being able to even find a meaning to your existence, since life without words, is ineffable. Having the privilege to live a life and being able to share the experience with others is why words are crucial in depicting a meaning. Because without it, my life wouldn’t be as exquisite as it is meaningful, for it is the foundation of the significant becoming of my existence.

3. What influences in your life have been most profound in shaping your life philosophy? Words of wisdom from the poetic mouths of the people I care about, philosophically spectacular experiences, and films. I only genuinely accept judgment from the people I care about. The criticism that I obtain through their words, are the things that taught me lessons I never imagined to comprehend. Because of them, I’ve been able to perceive not only the practical things, but the unfathomable as well. You cannot learn without bravely confronting the type of life served to you, we can’t just ignore the things that makes us feel miserable. This opportunity helped me sort my clouded view on things. It hit my mind with the realization of how powerful experiences can be that lead to deeper understanding of not only myself, but also the planet where I belong. And last but not the least, films. Numerous times that I’ve said to myself that I don’t have a personality, I only have films and shows I liked. I tend to behave like the characters from the films I’ve watched. I always admire the adorably eccentric views of the characters, and the foreshadowing of scenes that gives me goose bumps everytime I encounter such. What’s more enthralling is the creative subject that grapples with reality. People say it’s not like the movies, but for me, its purpose and significance, no matter how overlooked it is, is the most influential...
