Wolf Videos (can also look at other video (Secret Lives of Wolves)

1) A wolf pack is composed of the alpha male and female (mom and dad) that have grown up in separate packs and they are the only ones that breed. 2) The rest of the pack are kids from various years that do not breed due to “incest avoidance” imprinting. 3) The alpha male and female eat first and there is a straight line feeding hierarchy and if not enough food the wolves at the bottom of the hierarchy either starve to death or disperse (in video). 4) Visual Communication-visual signals vary from dominance displays (ears and tail up, hair up, standing tall, showing teeth), while appeasement displays (ears and tail down or under body, hair down, crutching, laying on back exposing abdomen, tail wagging, nuzzling mouth of dominant individual, escape) indicate subdominance. 5) Auditory Communication-howling, chorusing (alpha male has lower voice tells other packs he is still in charge> is a territorial display), whimpering (showing subdominance- triggers parental care behavior from adults), bark is alarm call. 6) Olfactory Communication-micturition (alpha male & female lift legs during urination shows dominance >subdominants squat to urinate), territorial marking, reproductive status, dominance position in hierarchy), smelling various parts of body (anal, tracks, mouth, middle of back regions where pheromones are released). 7) Tactile Communication-muzzling, pups and subdominants to get feed and show subdominance (regurgitation by adults to pups), body contact >body slam, wrestling (establishing hierarchy). 8) Gustatory Communication- taste (to identify good and bad food)...
