Description

Georg Simmel, born in Berlin, Germany (1858), is one of the well-known german sociologists, and along with that, he was a neo-keratin philosopher. His work and study were more concerned about Sociological methodology, which was about personal and social interaction. The Metropolis and Mental Life was mainly about modern aspects of life. He highlights different aspects of life between small towns and metropolitan life. He explains that life in the society we live in has high maintenance and struggles hard to be unique in their way. Nowadays, our life is based on individual objectives, and they tend not to follow society. Whereas in rural towns they have a similar pattern of life and share the same values. He further explains that human nature is dependent on many different things like their past and present in today's world. He even described the importance of time and money management. He had more interpretive sociology than all other theories. He believed that interaction between individuals and small groups forms social interaction. In conclusion, we should follow some specific beliefs about how people live to understand society. Simmel explained that struggle is usually due to our personalities. Due to the increment in knowledge, rationality, and accomplishment in metropolis life, there is a decline in culture. People are working for financial gain and ignore extra activities around them.
