Description

Short Answer: Explicit and Implicit Biases 3-3 Provide an example of an implicit bias and an explicit bias. The examples may be from your own life, from something you have observed, or from the resources reviewed in the .module Implicit bias is when you're driving in the bad part of town and stop at an intersection or stop sign. You roll up your windows and lock your doors when you see a stranger walk up to or pass your vehicle. They may be the nicest person, minding their own business, but do to perceive preconceptions, unconsciously we immediately switch too defensive mode, and immediately roll .up our windows and lock our doors Explicit bias is like when people are rude to my sister because she is white and her boyfriend is black. There are people still in this world that are still against races mixing or having a relationship. Sometimes we see someone and automatically regress back to what we’re comfortable with and know and our own bias then appears. Of course, that’s not to say that we should not be vigilant and be like, “hey, everyone is wonderful and kind and a good human being so let’s go walking down a really bad part of a city or neighborhood” because it could be .disastrous Bias can influence how we treat others and how we are treated by others at school, work, justice system, and our daily interactions with others alike. By learning on how to be cognizant of our actions towards others we can try to move away from sub-unconsciously mistreating .others...
