Definition. Today, I’m going to talk about SMECTA, a digestive bandage. It is used for symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea. In fact, Diosmectite is the active principle of SMECTA. Diosmectite is a natural clay treated and purified for use therapeutic. SMECTA is a double silicilate of aluminium and magnesium. SMECTA has an important covering power of the digestive mucosa. By interacting with mucus glycoproteins, it increases the resistance of the adhering mucous gel to the aggressors. Thus, SMECTA protects the digestive mucosa. SMECTA is prescribed by general practitioners, gastroenterologists, and pediatricians. The product can also be sold without prescription on the advice of the pharmacist.

History : When it was discovered. Antidiarrhea was manufactured and marketed in 1977 in Dreux (France). History : By whom. Ipsen is the laboratory that created this drug. Ipsen is a biopharmaceutical company founded in 1929 by Dr.Henri Beaufour.

History : history. SMECTA asserts its position on the pharmaceutical market through a series of media campaigns, but also thanks to the launches of “SCMETA Strawberry” and “SMECTA ready for use”. SMECTA has several competitors, such as IMODIUM or like ULTRALEVURE. In 2009, a generic of SMECTA, Diosmectite Mylan, was marketed without reimbursement.

Conclusion and why did you choose this. In conclusion, SMECTA is a drug, so it should be used with caution. I chose this topic because it is a product studied in a laboratory that we can meet in everyday life. Moreover, the winter period settles down in the same way as the disease treated by the drug.
