4.07 Review and Project Milestone Topic One: Personality/ Types of Personalities In module four you learn about the types of personalities, which are Type A and Type B. People with Type A personality are eager to compete, multitaskers, have and intense drive to achieve, and usually very alert people mentally and physically. While on the other hand people with Type B personality are more laidback and calm types of people. People with Type B are also a lot like the total opposite of Type A personality because Type B has lower drive to do stuff unlike Type A. This relates to my everyday life because I have a Type A personality, where I like to get a lot of stuff done, multitask, I’m a very eager person and like to achieve things.

Topic Two: Coping Strategies Also learned in module four is coping strategies that can be used when stressed out. Coping is how an individual deals with everyday life and what stresses them out. Many people have different ways of coping with everyday stress, but when people don’t find ways to cope with it and it can lead to serious life-threatening causes such as depression. One way to help cope with stress is being more active everyday such as getting outside and going on a walk for a few miles. Another way of coping is time management, having a good sense of time management can help with stress because getting your stuff done in the time periods that you have planned out can leave you with extra time to yourself at the end of the day. This is used in everyday life because in mine, I exercise daily and it helps me deal with stress better because by the time I’m done with my exercise I feel less stressed and more relaxed afterwards.

Topic Three: Language Acquisition Learned in the module is Language Acquisition. Language Acquisition is the process by which a language is learned, which begins as an infant. The Theory of Universal Grammar supports that all infants have the ability to learn any language when they’re younger, and that they learn it best when they’re younger. Roman Jakobson proposed that there are six functions of verbal communication that everyone uses and can use on a daily basis. Those six functions being 1.) 2.) 3.) 4.) 5.) 6.)

Conative Function- tells/telling others what to do Phatic Function- establishing contact or attention Referential Function- sharing facts or info Poetic Function- adding meaning Emotive Function- expressing a response to a situation Metalingual Function- understanding of using the same language

These functions can be applied in people’s everyday lives to make they’re conversations go smoother and can even be used when talking to younger children to help them better understand the language as they grow older....
