A. Kartilla ng Katipunan by Emilio Jacinto Kartilya is the best known of all Katipunan texts and that it is the only document of any length set in print by the Katipunan prior to August 1896 that is known to be still extant. This can be treated as the Katipunan code of conduct, that contains of fourteen rules the way katipuneros should behave. It serves as the primary lessons for the members of the Katipunan. it deals primarily with one’s duties to God, country, family, neighbors, the Katipunan and himself. Also speaks of honor, charity and self- sacrifice but warns of penalty to the traitor and disobedient. It is containing code of conduct made by our heroes who fought for the independency of the Philippines against the Spanish colonization. The contribution and relevance of Kartilla ng Katipunan by Emilio Jacinto in understanding the grand narrative of Philippine History, Filipinos should truly love their native land and to reflect from their selves. It teaches us to have genuine compassion for one another and that we are all equal and true brethren even you are poor, rich and ignorant. This tells us, Filipinos back then are intellectual revolutionaries and have a sense of morality fighting for just and good service. Kartilya ng Katipunan was meant to guide us in living our everyday life its fullest. More importantly, it highlights the importance of having the right attitude towards other people. The duties that the katipunero performed was exceedingly hard for the sake of our independency, they even sacrifice their life in our nation to have freedom. It gives as principles and morals that help us Filipinos to be brave and encourage us to uplift our mind and virtue for our country because If we have no love for our native land and no genuine desire to promote progress we cannot accomplished or endured being a true Filipino. It is created in-order to have peace and guidelines for the members and also to fire-up their righteousness. True charity resides in acts of compassion, in love for one’s fellow men, and in making true reason the measure of every move, deed and word. Tells us that physical appearance doesn’t matter, be their skin dark or all pale all of us are equal. One can be superior to another in knowledge, wealth and beauty but not in being. Be a Filipino with a noble character values honor above self-interest, rather than a person with an ignoble character values self- interest above honor. We should stand up and show action that resembles love for country. Always value our time, because if time lost it will be lost forever. It also contributed to the Philippine core values and norms about human rights especially respect for women and children, the man leads the way, also woman is not a plaything but a helpmate and partner in the hardship of this existence. As the primary governing document which determines the rules of conduct in the Katipunan, properly

understand the Kartilya ng Katipunan will thus help in understanding the values, ideas, aspiration, and even the ideology of the organization. The purpose of this is to overthrow a colonial regime, one can analyze the value upheld in the document as consistent with the burgeoning rational and liberal ideas in the eighteen and nineteenth century. Kartilya was instructive not just of the Katipunan’s conduct toward other people, but also for the member’s development as individuals in their own rights. Most importantly the significant role that the Katipunan played in the revolution and in the unfolding of the Philippine history.

The Philippine Revolution is one of the most important events in the country’s history, the contribution and relevance of it is that it serves as awakening a proud sense of nationalism for generation of Filipinos to come. Awareness to Filipinos about what had happened before as the Filipinos of different backgrounds united with a common goal to resist colonialism. How Apolinario Mabini helped Andres Bonifacio in planning and thinking on how to fight against the Spanish colonizer and to try to avoid the fight with Americans. They fought for our independence, as the first result of the assembly’s deliberations were the ratification of the proclamation of independence prematurely made in Kawit, and the decision to draft a constitution for the establishment of a Philippine Republic. According to Mabini the Senate is for the chosen people who is intelligent and know the different things about the economy and the one that is kind. That’s why the relevance of this in our present period is that we are nowhere near success if we are led by an unworthy and ineffective leader. The Philippine Revolution contribute in today’s Philippine government, the rebellion has failed because the leader was ineffective and unworthy. Emilio Aguinaldo believed that the country’s development also means self-development, he didn’t look to the worth of the people according to their abilities, character and patriotic, that’s why he failed. Apolinario Mabini teach us to not forget how our country before with a leader that won post reprehensibly rather than meritorious acts, and instead of supporting the most useful men, he made then useless out of jealousy. This will serve us as a lesson, learnt at the cost of untold suffering. We instead of involving personal interests (politics) in the government, we should prioritize serving the nation for a great future....
