Abstract Family tourism has been a significant trend in tourism industry. In this market, children are deemed important stakeholders alongside their parents thanks to their influence on decision-making. Thus, hotels are making efforts to indulge children using high-quality kid-friendly facilities (Seraphin & Yallop 2019). The following report will indicate the popularity of family tourism associated with an overview of Amiana Resort Nha Trang. Subsequently, flaws within Amiana Kid Club and Swimming Pools will be elaborated. Afterward, recommendations with a clear timeline complying with budget will be explicitly presented to help Amiana gain back competitive edge over its competitors. This is also the main objective of the report

Property Introduction Family travel is a fast-growing and thriving market that has been trendy among the tourism cluster for years. The market accounted for more than 30% of leisure market travel (Schänzel & Yeoman 2015). The trend boomed in Asia, with 86% of Thai travelers while 75% from the Philippines claiming to have traveled with their core families (parents and children). Such number was varied from 60-71% for American, British, Australian (Agoda 2018). According to FTA (2018), 68% of parents stated their excitement for the holiday trip when their children involved. Post-Covid 19, such tourism trend is anticipated to explode worldwide. (Kiesnoski 2020) Considering the major trend of family tourism, it is mandatory for Amiana Resort Nha Trang to upgrade its kids-friendly facilities (playground, pools) to catch up with competitors. Despite being rated as a top family-friendly resort in Nha Trang, there are flaws within the accommodation's kid-friendly facilities (Hotels n.d). The higher quality of facilities, the higher customer satisfaction and loyalty for Amiana, which results in lavish profit.

Analysis Children Playground Children playground is a dispensable determinant in a kids-friendly lodging (Hamed 2017) (Appendix 4). Amiana does set up a Kid Club as an indoor playground for its young guests. However, a multitude of weaknesses exists within Amiana playground making it lopsided compared to others. To begin with, the current usage of conventional/traditional ceiling held accountable for adding a 6

perceived sense of room looking small and stuffy, which is in return criticized by the guests (Appendix 2). Furthermore, the negligence in choosing lighting type is also the factor affecting the appearance of the playground. The fluorescent lighting utilized by Amiana is old-fashioned and out-of-trend, which is only suitable for offices. Hence, such lighting is a drawback for the playground's visual (Lathia et al., 2021). In fact, according to an empirical study, fluorescent lighting also poses a threat to the kid's ocular health (Edirisinghe, Abeyweera & Senanayake 2016). Moreover, such lighting also affects people suffering from anxiety disorders (Khorsit et al., 2021). When comparing Amiana Kid Club with its competitor-Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang, in terms of interior design, it is apparent that the latter is outmaneuvering the former (Appendix 3). Vinpearl Resort or majority accommodations opt to utilize a trendy lighting system and modern ceiling (Coffered Ceiling, Tray Ceiling) for Kid Club to initiate majestic appearance to the playground (Appendix 6). At the same time, there are also numerous kids-friendly necessities enabling activities to be organized for kids. The indoor playground is not only a basic room filled with toys like what has been done in Amiana Resort. Kids in the modern-day only prefer the playground with a unique interior design that is eye-catching and appealing (Veitch et al. 2020). Unlike the outdoor playground, the indoor facility tends to concentrate more on the structure, design apparatus (Jeon & Jun 2021). The tweaks to current equipment of Amiana Kid Club: ceiling, lighting, television and the addition of kids-friendly necessities will make the Kid Club more eye-catching, fascinating and enable diverse activities to be organized that will solve the complaints toward the lacking activities inside Kid Club since the usage of proper equipment will help babysitters to come up with diverse activities to interact with kids.

Swimming pool

Three pools are owning congruent depth-1m5 in the resort (Dulichtietkiem n.d). All the pools instill all-ages policy, which might be unsafe for the children while disrupting the adults seeking relaxation (Appendix 5). The recommended depth for the pool allowing kid's entry is 1m06-1m21 to ensure the safety of kids (Mitts n.d). Overshadow pool casts risk to the children and creates discomfort when the children must wear a life jacket throughout their playing time inside the pool. Meanwhile, due to the sharing pools between children and adults, there are no kids-friendly necessities, including slides, splashes inside three pools, which triggers boredom and frustration for kids. However, the positive feature of the pools is their vinyl liner attribute enabling quick install, swift renovation at an affordable price (lathampool n.d). The seawater pool will be selected to transform into an actual kid-designated pool, thanks to its oversized dimension.

Recommendation Children Playground There are around 2700 kids injured by electrical outlets each year, and 70% of those children get supervised by parents or babysitters (Weltman Home Services n.d). As the top priority of the Kid Club is children safety, hence, all the wall power sockets will be covered by the outlet cover to safeguard the kids while below are main initiatives for the playground:  Tray Ceiling From aesthetic to acoustic, ceiling has a huge influence on every aspect of the room. As an interrupted area, the ceiling is a determinant affecting the room’s 8

appearance and function (Lewellen n.d). The alteration for Amiana traditional ceiling is Tray Ceiling. The ceiling complements visual interest in the room and makes the room appear higher and larger than usual (Mulvey 2020). Because of being attached the recreational center, it is highly complex and costly when enlarging the Kid Club, however, Tray Ceiling can be a wise initiative to create illusion of higher and larger room (Mulvey 2020). Another primary reason to choose the Tray Ceiling is to support the technology, which will be discussed later.  Led Changing Color Downlight Not only is it a source to provide brightness to the room, but lighting is also another factor impacting the room's visual appearance (Gemelli, Shiratuddin & Kemp 2013). The old-fashioned, inappropriate use of fluorescent lighting in Amiana Kid Club needs to be dismissed and replaced by Led Changing Color Downlight. Downlight Led presents as one of the most popular lighting trends in the hospitality industry, especially in hotels' kid clubs, while color is related to the mood and emotion of kids (Boyatzis & Varghese 1993). Regarding the association between Kid mood, emotion and color, Led Changing Color Downlight allows babysitters to switch into kid-preferred color to boost the kid's mood. The multicolor downlights switch the Kid Club to Disco Ground for dancing activities.  Fiber Optic Star Ceiling Kit Light When being asked about the appearance of the preferred ceiling, 26% of children prefer having a space-themed ceiling (Patel & Shah 2018). Hence the use of such technology to initiate a ceiling filled with bright stars is ideal. Closing every curtain to deter natural lights from coming in, turning on Kit Light and Downlights, the eye-catching room filled with glowing stars will appear, which is believed to bring the kids catharsis and feel like playing in the spaceship. However, the most realistic and upbeat experience can only be offered when Tray 9

Ceiling is adopted (Appendix 7). Since the Fiber Optic Star Ceiling Kit Light is widely optimized in-home theatre, the present in-use TV of Amiana Kid Club will be replaced by the Screen Projection to set up a look-a-like movie room for kids.  Playhouse Playhouses will be purchased to enable more activities to be organized in the Kid Club, which helps avoid complaints about lacking activities within Kid Club. The Playhouse can be named under businesses like Restaurants, Bakery, Bank, etc. Kids will role-play as owners and customers to buy and sell stuff in the Playhouse. Such addition will promote Edutainment (Learning through playing) which helps enlarge kid knowledge and enhance their skills in math, negotiation, communication. Children will earn more insights into the operation of different type of businesses. Playhouses can also act as painting workshop for sculpture painting, picture painting activity. Budget/timeline (Appendix 8 & 9) Swimming Pool  Add fill into Seawater Pool As mentioned, the current depth of Seawater Pool is 1m5, therefore, a 44cm fill addition will be needed to shallow the pool to 1m06. Kids-friendly necessities will be implemented into the pool to indulge the children's experience and create physical activities (Appendix 12). The well-equipped kid pool with appropriate depth is expected to offer a golden experience for the kids in Amiana. Sporting activities inside the Seawater Pool might encourage the engagement of parents to join their kids in the recreational moment. The moment with parents is the most precious thing the children always seek in the holiday trip (Blichfeldt, Pedersen & Hansen 2011). Therefore, the seawater pool with capability to provoke family engagement through activities will gain appreciation from the kids. Budget/Timeline (Appendix 9 &10) 10

Conclusion After the renovation, Amiana is expected to increase guest satisfaction and retention since the guests acknowledge their idea is taken seriously by the resort and have a huge contribution to accommodation development. Moreover, Amiana will become more competitive in the family market thanks to the enhancement of Kid Club and Pool.
