Global Issues in Context, Summary: This source depicts the reaction of the Chinese population to the enhancements to the One-Child policy made in 2015, while analyzing the effect it had on the countries birth rates, life expectancy and first child in a family rates. The source shows how females are treated in a society where are they are viewed as birthing machines and it talks about the legal loopholes required to have a baby as a single mother in China. Many people read the New York Times, the board of editors and columnists that go into making the New York Times are credible from experience and need for accuracy in a continually scrutinizing of media population. I will use this source to show the effects of the One-Child policy from 1970 to 2015, as well as use it to analyze the difference in effect to the nation between the old policy and the new Two-Child policy that was implemented.

Source 2 "Five takeaways from China's one-child policy." Globe & Mail [Toronto, Canada], 31 Oct. 2015, p. F9. Global Issues in Context Summary: This article was written in 2015, directly after China had announced that it would revoke its one-child policy soon. This gives the article a recent approach to the ending of the

policy that lasted from 1970 till 2015. The article quotes birth rates and female education to depict how the policy effected the Chinese, as well as talk about the enforcement behind the onechild policy throughout China. Credibility: This article was published through the database Global Issues in Context and therefore carries scholarly weight. This article was also a part of the Globe & Mail in Toronto, a well published source. The most credible part of this source is how it was published right near the end of the one-child policy, so it has a more recent stance than something written three years later. I will use this source in my essay to explain the basics behind the once-child policy as well as talk about how it is enforced and more a burden on females in the community. This source will be a good representation of a recent reaction and fact check in 2015 and will give my paper insight into the actual effects of the ending of the One-Child policy in China. Source 3 Berenson, Tessa. “China's One-Child Policy: How It Started in the First Place.” Time, Time, 29 Oct. 2015 Summary: This article was written directly after the revision of China’s one-child policy in 2015 as it morphed into China’s two-child policy. This source goes in to depth from the 1900’s to the 2000’s on how the policy came about in the first place. By examining the economy, the workforce and the population, this article effectively reveals the series of political events that took place to implement the policy. Credibility: The credibility of this article is upheld through Time and the credibility of Time is upheld through the honesty and integrity of the press system in the U.S.. The author Tessa Berenson, is credible as she has been published in other time works and has gone through editors to publish her work. I will use this source to show how the policy came to be an idea and the altercation of China’s past that led to the implementation of the one-child policy. Source 4

"Global Environmental Issues." Global Issues in Context Online Collection, Gale, 2018. Global Issues in Context Summary: This article provides a large general insight into the problem of overpopulation and how humans are affecting the environment. It explores the intricacies of nature and how humans fit into a healthy environment. Credibility: This source is from an academic database knows as Gale. Gale is a large database that provides credible information on a wide range of topics, and I obtained the idea to write about the one-child policy form Gale’s abundant resources on the material. I will use this information in my essay to assess how China’s one child policy aligns with human’s role in the environment. Source 5 "My secret life as a forbidden second child in China." Gulf News [United Arab Emirates], 11 Feb. 2016. Global Issues in Context Summary: In this short but heartfelt story of a girl named Anne, more insight is given into the daily lives of people who are impacted by China’s policy of having one-child. Anne’s story of her and her mother’s sacrifices to have two children in a country where that is illegal is very eyeopening. Credibility: This is a credible source as it is also from an academic database knows as Gale. This is also a firsthand story with accurate yet saddening information on how women and families were treated under the one-child policy. I will use this information in comparison to a personal interview on how having siblings freely effects life in other countries compared to China....
