Breanna Garza July 5, 2020 ECE-120 Professor Diamente Personal Philosophy of Education Each class, each child that I have or will have in the future are all going to be different. They are all going to come from a different background, read or learn at a different level and just be different all the way around. Right now, I might say that I know which theory I want to implement in my classroom, but that also may change with each class that I have because I might have more hands on learners than those that can get instructions and just do it. I do know for sure that I want to always want to implement the importance of learning through play, especially since these children are going to be younger and have so many new things that they are going to be learning. Education is always changing, and I believe it is important to keep up with the current teaching methods, technology being a big one. After this whole Covid-19 thing happened, it really reassured my idea of this. I think it’s important for children to understand how to use technology and to utilize the learning websites and resources that are available to us. In my classroom, I will be doing this with the children, but of course the technology will be used strictly for educational purposes and I can only hope that they take what they learn in the classroom and use it outside. A welcoming and inviting class is something that is always going to be a must for me in any classroom that I am in, whether it’s my classroom or I am covering for another teacher. All students, no matter what their age is need a welcoming classroom, one where they feel safe and valued. In order to achieve this, I think it would be important for me to go to trainings that are

specifically made for this, so I can learn more on how to execute this plan. Yes, I have my own experiences, but I know that it’s not a perfect world and I am going to get children who come from backgrounds that I can’t personally relate too. So, in order to help them feel comfortable, I want to learn the right way to go about it, I don’t want to offend a student or a parent. The goal is to make everyone feel as if my classroom is a safe space for them to be. With that being said, another thing that goes hand-in-hand with this is the relationships I will need to create with not only their families, but with the community as well. If parents don’t feel comfortable with me as a teacher, then what makes me think that they will feel comfortable with their children being in my care for six hours a day, five days a week. There has to be a good relationship between us, because I want them to be able to come to me if there is an issue or know that if I am bringing an issue up or concern about their child it is because I want to help resolve it and make it better. The community I live in is a good one, there are so many resources and organizations that are out there to help not only the students, but their families as well. The better relationship I have with these resources, the more it can help me encourage my students and their families to utilize them. Pre-K is the age, as of now that I am shooting for teaching when I finish school. This age group is so critical because it’s the time when we get to help prepare these children for kindergarten. I plan on having a consistent lesson plan and daily routine because I’ve learned through experience how successful that can be. My goal is to not only have my children learn through play, but succeed with them, so they are at their highest capability when they enter kindergarten. I want to help set them up for success in any way that I can....
