Chapter 3 Discussion Questions 1. Motivation is not a new concept, so why is motivation important? Is it more important that an employee is motivated or engaged? Motivation is the will every person should do something. In a workplace, professional location is a rule not an option. As a leader at my own company, One of the main activities of a leader is to keep the motivation of the employees. Motivation is a human nature, all employee need to be motivated for something or someone, and it just need an impulse to keep it aligned to the company’s vision. 2. Discuss any limitations of the management approaches to motivation? One of the limitations of the management approaches to motivation punishment It implies removing positive consequences to lower the probability of repeating undesirable behavior in future. In other words, punishment means applying undesirable consequence for showing undesirable behavior. For example, suspending an employee for breaking the organizational rules. Punishment can be equalized by positive reinforcement from alternative source. 3. which types of rewards are more important intrinsic or extrinsic? Rewards are the outcomes or the result of positive or expected employee performance. More important in both these rewards are the Intrinsic Rewards. Intrinsic rewards are important because include things such as: personal achievement, professional growth, sense of pleasure and accomplishment. After achieving intrinsic rewards extrinsic rewards become only a hygiene factor, rather than a motivating factor. But after achieving extrinsic rewards, the need for further motivation still exists. But after achieving extrinsic rewards, the need for further motivation still exists. 4. Does the importance of different types of rewards change over time as one progresses through one's career? What are some of examples of rewards tailored to different generations? Yes, it does, as a time goes by, every time has it rewards. For example, people used to work hard for a little bit amount of money. In today’s world. Employee works for more than only money. For example, many people work heard for the benefit rewards like health insurance, vacation, retirement accounts, and promotions. 5. Which myth of motivation is the most important? Are there other myths that you can identify? Money is the most important form of motivation. The most important myth about motivation is that money is the greatest motivational factor. However. Employees need job-satisfaction, good working condition, and recognition for their motivation. 6. What motivation strategy would you apply with an employee who you think is capable of doing the work but is underperforming?

Some of the Strategy to Motivate underperforming employee is address the issue with the employee, it may be the employee is under a lot of issue, after that he will perform well. Make sure to train the employee and give him feedback every time. -Reward if corrective behavior is observed....
