Description

Topic 1 DQ 1 This class will include students from several different programs of study.

What are the general benefits to learning how to program? (Hint: Look at music and arts education.) How can programming benefit you in your chosen career field? What types of coding skills are being required by employers? Be sure to cite your research according to the guidelines found in the GCU Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

A benefit provided by learning to program is that it can help us acquire critical thinking skills, which is a skill that is useful in many different career paths in the computer world (Meinke, 2020). Critical thinking can potentially help us to understand more complex problems and find different solutions in more effective ways. Just in the first few days of this class when working on the image and sound assignment. I have learned how to look at things from a different perspective and applies those to the assignment. In my career path the use of programming languages is going to benefit me greatly since I will be hopefully working in the IT sector. Using programming languages such as Python, SQL, etc. for businesses that houses servers and have databases. After some looking at all the job postings on various job boards. It seems to me that the most requested programming language is SQL. Another runner up for that was the JavaScript.
