Origins Christian Beliefs In 250-350 words, respond thoroughly to the prompt in the assignment. Be sure to include citations. 1.

Summarize the Christian beliefs about the following: origins, Genesis 1 and 2, general and specific revelation, and the three Christian approaches to creation. Origins: Origins is the ways life started and the different beliefs God and humanity started. Genesis 1 and 2: This is creation. This is the belief that God created the world and all in it. He created humankind in his image and he looked up on it as “very good.” Genesis 1 is the big picture of creation and what God made. The concept says that humans were made in the image of God. There are a ton of different understandings about this but the main one is that we as Gods creation are made to fulfill His work and keep order in the world. Genesis 2, has more of a focused point of view. ( King James Bible) This point of view looks more closely at the creation of Adam and Eve. It also explains the relationship between God and humanity. General revelation and specific revelation: General revelation is that God has made himself known to all people everywhere through the creation itself. Examples of this are order, morality, consciousness are seen as signs of God and his existence. Whereas specific revelation is that God has only revealed himself to a select few through history. Examples of this are Jesus, dreams, scripture and Prophecy. Three Christian approaches to creation:

As we all know there are three Christian views of creation. The first is Young earth creation, this says that God created the world in 6 days and the earth is around 6-10 thousand years old today. Next is Old Earth which basically says the earth is 4.6 billion years old and life came in stages and that God did not have much play in the evolution of people. The last is the Theistic evolution, which says that life evolved by a process that God himself guided.

In 250-350 words, respond thoroughly to the prompt in the assignment. Be sure to include citations. 1.

Explain and support your current understanding of the origin of the universe, evolution, and the age of the earth, and whether or not your view can be reconciled with the message of the Bible and science. 2.

My current understanding of the origin of the universe is something close to the Old Earth. I believe the earth is 4.6 billion years old but I also believe in Theistic theory. I believe that God did guide evolution in a way. I think science is a little bit easier to comprehend because of all the facts that are given to you. I appreciate he message of the Bible and have only read it once. I think it’s a great story about how everything started but I think that evolution is mainly what created human beings, or what we are today. I think God may have created us in his image but he only created the blueprint and let evolution do its job. (Pino di Luccio) Evolution is interesting because it’s we have literal proof. Scientists have found fossils and tools dated to thousands and millions of years ago. This just proves that we evolved from primates and have developed tools and physically. It’s a little bit hard for me to believe the Young Earth theory because it states that the earth around six to ten thousand years old. This is difficult to believe because like I said before, there’s literal proof of life way before then. These are my personal beliefs and I would never want to come across abrasive or hurt anyone’s feelings if they believe something totally different from me. I tend to have an open mind about this type of stuff so I’m definitely open to hearing others points of view.

Impact of Current Understanding In 250-350 words, respond thoroughly to all the prompts in the assignment. Be sure to include citations. 1.

Express how your current understanding of the origin of the universe impacts or supports your worldview, specifically your view of the nature of God, the nature of humanity (human value, dignity, and flourishing), and the responsibility to care for the earth. 2.

As previously stated, I believe something close to Old Earth origin. I think the Earth is 4.6 billion years old. My view of God is that he is omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient, and immutable. As far as taking care of earth, it truly saddens me that we have done such a poor job. God created us to be loving and in his image. I don’t think he would have thought we would be so selfish and treat the planet where we live so awfully. I truly think loving the earth and treating it with respect is another form of loving ourselves and what God has given us. It’s frustrating to see things like climate change really taking over our planet. And big corporations and people in general, don’t think it’s real, or are too interested in making money to truly do anything about it. Its infuriating to think about my generation or my children’s generations having to deal with the consequences of past generations mistakes. (Pino di Luccio) There is so much work to be done to truly heal the earth today. That’s why it’s so frustrating that we have to undo so hurt and pollution. I think people should take it more seriously because if we destroy the earth human life won’t be able to continue. I don’t think God could save us no matter how hard we pray for survival. There are things that can’t be saved and the earth dying is definitely one of those things. We need to continue showing love to each other and the earth, I think that’s what God wants from us.
