Please type your answers below each question. 1. Read the section on The Kingdom of God in Chapter 11 of the textbook and respond to the following: a. Is it a present kingdom or a future kingdom? 2. Read the section on The Mission of God in Chapter 11 of the textbook and respond to the following: a. How is it related to God’s character? 1) Mission flows out of his character 2) Character of love. 3) Love is an overarching characteristic of his mission of redemption and restoration for the world. b. How is God’s mission characterized? 1) Character is one of sending himself, always going, coming, sending in mission. 2) sending and being sent is fundamental to who god is and what god does. 3. Read the sidebar on Finding Your Purpose in Chapter 11 of the textbook and describe the work ethic presented. What kind of work is best? If you are doing work that is meaningful for the world but you are miserable, doing it you have not found your purpose either. "The place where god calls you to is that place where your deep gladness and worlds deep hunger meet". 4. List God’s purposes for our lives from Romans 8:28-29 (see Topic 7 Overview). 1) Love god 2) Be conformed to the image of Christ. 5. Read the section on Belief and Behavior in Chapter 12 of the textbook and James 2:14-26. What is the relationship between faith and action? For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from work is dead 6. According to Mark 8:34, is being a disciple of Jesus easy or costly? Costly: "take up hiss cross". 7. Read the section on The Work of the Holy Spirit in Chapter 12 of the textbook. List two functions of the Spirit in a Christian’s life. 1) carries out work of the father in creation. 2) Works within Christians to grow them up as followers of Jesus Christ. 3) work from Christian into the image of Jesus Christ 4) Formation reminds a person that the process shapes and molds one into the likeliness of Jesus himself 5) spiritual reminds a person that the process is accomplished by the spirit of god rather that by human work. 8. According to the Westminster Shorter Catechism quoted in the overview, what is the primary purpose of humanity? 2

Mans primary purpose is to glorify god, and to enjoy him forever. 9. Read 1 Corinthians 15:42-57 and list three characteristics of the glorified state. 1) Dead will be raised 2) perishable body made imperishable 3) Bodies transform to perfection (glorified bodies)
