Description

Topic 5 Review This topic review is a tool designed to prepare students for the Topic 5 Quiz. Instructors will grade the topic review for completion. Save the topic review to your computer and submit when complete. When completing this review, answers should be in your own words or quoted with quotation marks and be drawn from one of the course readings (textbook and lecture referenced below), or other sources listed in the syllabus. Outside sources, including internet sites, are not acceptable. When quoting and paraphrasing, include all authors' last names for citations that have multiple authors. For quoted citations, be sure to include the page or paragraph number(s). The quiz will be graded for accuracy, so take time to seek the correct answers for this topic review before you attempt the quiz. Once you start the quiz, do not exit the quiz until the entire quiz is completed. Exiting out of the quiz before it is complete may result in a zero grade. Please type your answers below each question. 1. Summarize Romans 3:20-26. Romans 3:20-26 says that obeying rules such as law will only make you aware of your sin and will not save you in God’s eyes. There is not a difference between Jews and others because they all have sinned. God sent Jesus to show righteousness and for reparation.

2. Summarize Matthew 5:44. We shall love all enemies and pray for persecutors (Matthew 5:44, NIV).

3. How does the textbook interpret Matthew 18:21-35 and the Christian’s ability to forgive others? The textbook covers that Christians need to believe in forgiveness beyond their own rights. Reconciliation is more important than self- preservation (Merrick, 2015).

4. Describe the Christian view of salvation and how it differs from the views of other religions.

Salvation is viewed as self-accomplishments and own good deeds as their ticket to heaven as Christian’s view of salvation is through the acceptance of Christ as your savior and trusting in Christ’s good work (Lecture 5, 2017). 5. What three words beginning with “R” used in the lesson and lecture summarize the gospel message? The words beginning with “R” used are Rescue, Redemption and Renewal. God saved people from eternal separation from Him and torment in hell by sending his Son to be sacrificed for our sins. By acceptance of Christ as your savior, salvation is granted, and you repent of your sins by confession and showing that you live in obedience. Redemption is when you become a new creation and begin to live a life that will guide you into eternity through the work of the Holy Spirit who enter your life by acceptance of Christ. Restoration, Reconciliation, and Relationship define God’s plan to restore people to himself, and mend relationships with him that were severely damaged due to sin (Lecture 5, 2017). 6. Briefly summarize Isaiah 53:4-6. Jesus went through suffering and pain for us. Jesus suffered for our sins and through his punishment provided humanity peace (Isaiah 53:4-6, NIV).

7. What is the mark of a Christian according to Jesus in John 13:35? To love one another is the mark of a Christian (John 13:35, NIV).

8. Read Hebrews 9:24-28. Briefly state the point in each of the last three verses (26-28). Hebrews 9:24-28’s last three verses state that there is one death for all sin, people will die once and then face judgment, Jesus died once for all sin and will come back for of those waiting for him with salvation (Hebrews 9:24-28, NIV).

9. Summarize John 20:24-29. What is the significance of this passage for Christians today? Christians do not need to view Jesus be a believer unlike Thomas whom would not believe unless he saw Jesus himself (John 20:24-29, NIV). Christians believe without physically seeing God because of what he has done in their lives (Lamca, 2015).
