I really enjoyed her simulation. Bringing all of the assessments together was in a way like a puzzle. In the end everything came together and I feel like overall I did a good job.

I think going through each individual assessment and then bringing them together.

Reflecting on Danielle Young Bear’s case, were there any actions you would do differently if you were to repeat this scenario? If so, how would your patient care change? 

I believe this was one of my best simulations. I don’t think I would have changed anything.

Danielle Young Bear had chronic pain. She was exceeding her daily dose of acetaminophen trying to relieve her pain.

Prescription Medication: o Cyclobenzaprine 5mg X 3 daily o Duloxetine 60mg X 1 daily o Tramadol 50mg X 4-6 daily o Hydrocodone 5mg/ acetaminophen 325mg X 4 daily Over the Counter Medication: o Nyquil 3 Tablespoons daily o Acetaminophen 500mg X 4 daily Herbal Supplements: o 1 cup willow bark tea

Provide patient education related to information found during the medication reconciliation. The total amount of acetaminophen exceeds more than 4g per day. Danielle Young Bear was told she should choose over the counter medications that don’t include acetaminophen and to consult her doctor or pharmacist about over the counter medication.

Explore evidence-based alternative pain management resources to assist with pain control for Danielle Young Bear. 

A pain clinic would help Mrs. Young manage her learn techniques to manage her pain without use of medication. o Guided imagery  Using visualization/positive imagery o Breathing training  Using diaphramic breathing o Relaxation techniques  Sit/lying in a comfortable position  Tensing/clenching muscle and relaxing them
