ELEVEN SOCIAL SCIENCE – UNDERSTADING CULTURE SOCIETY AND POLITICS SECOND

Session 3 Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons exercises and remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides. I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the learner is able to:

1. Define Nonstate Institutions. 2. Differentiate institution between organization. 3. Discuss the Important role of Nonstate Institutions in our Society. A. Content Standards

The learner demonstrate an understanding of: Cultural, social and political institutions as sets of norms and patterns of behavior that relate to major social interest.

B. Performance Standards

The learner is able to: Identify one’s role in social groups and institution. Recognize other forms of economic transaction such as sharing, gift exchange, and redistribution in his/her own society At the end of the lesson, the learner is able to Differentiate functions of Nonstate institutions in Society. UCSP11/12HSOIIb-25 Content is what the lesson is all about. It pertains to the subject matter that the teacher aims to teach. In the CG, the content can be tackled in a week or two. How Society is Organized Nonstate Institutions List the materials to be used in different days. Varied resources of materials sustain children’s interest in the lesson and in learning. Ensure there is a mix of concrete and manipulative materials as well as paper-based materials. Hands-on learning promotes concept development.

Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with manipulative ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate time allotment for each step. ROUTINELY ACTIVITIES: Prayer Greetings Classroom cleanliness and orderliness Checking of Attendance Review MOTIVATION: The teacher teachers will present video about Non state Institutions (Banks, International Organizations etc.) ( Integration of numeracy thru the list of banks and international organization and the percentage of their contribution to the country) Activity INQUIRY-BASED APPROACH ( Indirect Instruction Strategy ) The teacher will ask the students to watch a video given to them. The students will be asked to discuss within one another what they have observed with 10 minutes. With the used of meta cards the student will going to write down their observation. The leaders will then collect and consolidate and present it in in class. Each group will be given 3 minutes to present. Discuss the Nonstate Institution in creative manner. Group 1- Banks and Corporation (News Report) Group 2- Cooperatives and Trade unions (Infomercial) Group 3- Transnational advocacy group (radio broadcasting) Group 4 – Development agency and international organization (Picture Freeze)
