GUIDE QUESTIONS FOR FILM REVIEW: 1.In the opening statement of Dr. Rizal in the movie, he mentioned that the Philippines is suffering from a kind of cancer. What kind of cancer does the country is suffering from as referred to by Rizal? In the present time, do you still see that our country is still suffering from this illness? It is not clear to me what specific aspect of the Philippines cancer is but I do have my speculations which are first the corruption of the one’s in power, second the blind faith in roman catholicism, third the colonists influence onto our fellow country men. As Rizal mentioned these are called Social Cancer that is affecting our people. And as for the present time I still see these effects at play in our community and are ruining how our society functions. I can see the corruption of those who rose in power claiming that they would serve the people only to gain their trust and betray them for personal gains, I can see that the people still believe in the same religion that Rizal has already exposed for their mistakes and immoralities, I can still see how most of our youth are no longer patriotic of their own country as it constantly influenced by their predecessors showing great interest in other countries instead of helping their own flourish.

2 What political, psychological, and historical issues had been discussed in the film? Were they clearly portrayed in the film? The Political aspect involved the rule of spaniards and how they treated the Filipino people and then the psychological effects that it lead to and their influence on how our current day mindsets turned to be as for historical aspects the monuments and churches they built would surpass the time of that generation and would still be standing till current day. For the most part the film has managed to display all the issues that Rizal wishes to fix and has brought to light....
