The first issue I have chosen to go with is the need to be paperless. We are undoubtedly in the age of technology, and most things are being replaced with it. One side of the paperless debate is the actual necessity for everything to be completely paperless. Some say that keeping a hard copy of the information is safer and less likely to be hacked into or lost. It gives more of a sense of security to have an actual paper trail. The other side of the argument is that being paperless allows for more ease of access to data. It is safer and better for the economic footprint. I work in an insurance office where we have so many files for our clients. Also, within my office is a healthy mix of younger and older people. The older ones want to keep paper files, where the younger ones want to be paperless. I have chosen issue two: the need physical need to be in an office versus working from home environment. Even before the pandemic hit the US, this debate has always come up. One side says the need for work and home to be separated is necessary for a sound mind. Also, working from home could allow for less employee production. The other side says working from is more productive with fewer interruptions. It could save money for both the employer and employee too. My office does not need to be in the office for what we do. With the pandemic still in full swing, working from home has proved to be more productive for the office. The side I am going to support and argue for is going paperless. The importance of going paperless in this day and age is enormous. Going paperless helps keep a more organized orientation of things, especially in the workplace. The audience I am targeting for my topic is those wary of technology and changes to it. While I am using some of my target demographic directly related to my environment now, I believe if I can persuade them, I will help persuade others in that same category....
