Summary (in your own words): After a major war America was split into districts that lead to the capital. Every year a boy and girl were selected to fight to the death for the entertainment of the people of the capital. This year a girl named Primrose was selected and in desperation and to protect her sister, Katniss volunteered as tribute. Katniss then proceeds to fight in the hunger games alongside her partner Peeta.

What kind of readers might enjoy this book? I think those who like war and like a good rebellion. Readers who have a love for a rebellion and strong female leads can get a good read out of this series.

How is this book representative of YA and its genre? The book is representative of the YA and its genre by having young kids and teens battle for their freedom and their lives in arena. It provides a good theme of family support and a love between sisters and how protective family can be together.

What is your reaction to this book? Did you enjoy it?’ I loved this book as a teen, and I read them all the time and the ending of the third book had me shocked and hurting by then final page of the book....
