Description

Finding Your Purpose Name: Samantha Angell Course: CWV-101 Date: April 25, 2021 Instructor: Michele Pasley Be sure you respond to all five prompts and complete the reference page in this document before submitting. Consider how what you have learned throughout the course will impact your future. Explain how to find your purpose by answering the following questions. Include citations and references from the topic study materials. 1. Summarize the concept of missio Dei (missional purpose). Your answer in 100-150 words: The term missio Dei means mission of God or sending of God (Pasley 2020). God wants to restore humanity to his good graces, which is why he sent his son to save us. God has always worked on different missions like creating earth, the heavens, and all beings. He also felt that humanity needed to have different missions. God is working on creating the perfect kingdom. God then demands us to be worthy of that kingdom. The church is supposed to serve God which means to serve the communities. Lots of churches will also do missionary work in places that are seen to be in need. 2. Summarize Buechner's concept of finding your purpose and explain how this aligns with the way you live out your worldview (missional purpose). Your answer in 100-150 words: Buechner felt that we need to find what makes us happy but that also contributes to the world around us. We would not be able to feel true happiness from if we are not contributing (Buechner as cited in Pasley, 2020). I search for what makes me happy all the time. I am happy when I am helping others. Criminal justice has also been something that I was interested in. When I think about what I wanted to do with my life I had a few different ideas. Baker, artist, nurse or in the justice field are my top choices. I learned a few years back that I could not become a nurse because I would not be able to handle it emotionally. I would give back more if I worked in criminal justice, which gives me both happiness and I get to serve to make our lives better. 3. Reflect on your beliefs about origins (creational purpose) and describe how those beliefs contribute to your understanding of human purpose.

Your answer in 100-150 words: I believe in God. He created our world, us, the plants, animals, the heavens, and many more things. God gave us jobs that we need to do. Loving and serving God is the biggest mission that we have. He also wants us to get married and have children. We serve him by loving those around us and helping others (Grand Canyon University, 2020). Having these beliefs’ means that I have to work to make our world a better place. By taking care of my loved ones and my community I am embracing what God wants of us. The beliefs that I feel give me a direction to take in life. It guides my behavior. I want to be the best person I can be. I also want to become a mother. I love children. Having one is something that I have wanted for as long as I can remember. 4. Describe how Jesus's statement of overarching purpose in the commandment to love God and love others as ourselves can be lived in and out of the workplace. Your answer in 100-150 words: I think it is like the statement “Do onto others as you want done to you.” My mother was always saying this as a kid. I do not know who originally said it, but it reminds me of what Jesus said. We can use it by being kind and courteous to those around us. We do not have to like everyone we come into contact with, but Jesus wants us to love them by helping. He wants us to work to better our world. Jesus wants us to turn away from acts of anger and hatred. We should be working with others to make things better for everyone and our planet. 5. Describe how your future career can be an opportunity to help others flourish, to be purposeful, and to do no harm. Your answer in 100-150 words: I am looking into being a parole, correctional, or probation officer. I think that working in one of those I will be help guide others down a better path. I could be not only the guide for them but to also have information that can help out or enlighten others. Being a person who will check up on them as well could get them to see things differently. Having the ability to guide others will help because I may be able to get them resources or other help that they would not be able to get otherwise. I would be in a position that I could reach more people.
