Description

Finding Your Purpose Name: Sabrina Howard Course: CWV-101 Date: 1/25/21 Instructor: Matthew Hampton Be sure you respond to all five prompts and complete the reference page in this document before submitting. Consider how what you have learned throughout the course will impact your future. Explain how to find your purpose by answering the following questions. Include citations and references from the topic study materials. 1. Summarize the concept of missio Dei (missional purpose). Your answer in 100-150 words: Missio Dei, which means "mission of God" or "sending of God," is rooted in an explanation of the Trinity's fundamental core that explains missionary action. A God mission which is God sending himself and isn’t waiting on people to come to him nor replenish the earth. God sent his only son (himself), Jesus Christ, to the earth to give them salvation. Jesus was vested by the Holy Spirit/Ghost to go thru with God’s mission of salvation and restoration to this world. (Pasley, 2020). The concept of missio Dei is to help Christ’s followers to want to accomplish God’s work of giving people the gospel and them obtaining salvation. This is a serve to their fellow men. 2. Summarize Buechner's concept of finding your purpose and explain how this aligns with the way you live out your worldview (missional purpose). Your answer in 100-150 words: Vocation is a calling from God, according to Buechner. The caller is the living God, but people find it hard to hear God’s voice because there are other kinds of voices calling out (Pemberton, 2014). Yet, we are to distinguish what God’s voice is because he is who tell us what to do and how to do. God knows what needs to be done and who needs help because he sees the bigger picture. It is our job to simply serve him and listen to his instructions. This is how we find our purpose by looking up and innermost to see what our life’s purpose is. In today’s society, everyone is looking for something that they are meant to do and people seem to rarely find it because they are looking in all the wrong places instead of up to God. He is the author and founder of our faith and us as a people. He has a plan for each and every one of us if we only listen. There is no greater feeling in my personal opinion than to find your purpose and calling on your life and walking in it.

3. Reflect on your beliefs about origins (creational purpose) and describe how those beliefs contribute to your understanding of human purpose. Your answer in 100-150 words: I went over the oral histories and different mythologies on how creation came to be and the reason we are here. I found these stories to be interesting and entertain and stories but that it all. I personally whole heartily believe only in the bible and its teaching of how the earth was formed and what God has for each and every one of us. The earth began because God spoke it into life within a week, he made the heavens, earth, humans, creatures, and vegetations. He even gave humans domination over the creature and make sure that Adam could tend to the animals and plants. He gave him and his wife a purpose and it was to take care of the garden and procreate. 4. Describe how Jesus's statement of overarching purpose in the commandment to love God and love others as ourselves can be lived in and out of the workplace. Your answer in 100-150 words: God gives us ten commandments to follow. The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:31) This applies to life in general regardless of your workplace. There is always a time in place to show the love of Christ to others. This doesn’t mean that you are marching up and down the halls with the biggest bible that you can find. It could easily be just being kind and showing the love of Christ thru your actions. People will see the difference in you and ask what is so special about you. God will create opportunities for you to share your salvation if you are available for him to use. Love never fails! 5. Describe how your future career can be an opportunity to help others flourish, to be purposeful, and to do no harm. Your answer in 100-150 words: In my career as a nurse, I believe that I will have plenty of opportunities to share the love of Christ with ours. When people come to the hospital it is usually because there is something happening in their lives whether they’re sick or having a baby. Either way they are usually vulnerable and have an open heart, looking for some kind of hope. My only hope is that I will be able to use my gift of discernment and be able to listen to when God is speaking and be able to be a blessing to these people. I want to be used by the Lord in whatever capacity that he sees fit. My goal is to be a postpartum nurse and want to help mothers walk in their calling to take care of their children correctly.
