GLOBAL WARMING ESSAY Global warming is caused by many factors. It can be described as rising average of the global air temperature. The overall temperature of the atmosphere has been rising over a long period of time. A lot of this is caused by factors known as human impacts. “This rise in temperature has the potential to cause drastic changes in climate and weather patterns worldwide by disrupting the equilibrium between incoming solar energy and the thermal energy that is reradiated away from the surface. (Keating, C. 2013)” Global warming has become a more

serious matter over the last recent years. Many efforts are being made to attempt to reduce global warming and the effects it will have on the ecosystem in the future. First Heading Global warming is the increasing temperature of the atmosphere. This affects the environment, species, and humans. With having rising temperatures in the atmosphere it can change many things in the environment. “Gases in the atmosphere absorb the reradiated infrared radiation and prevent it from escaping into space. This is called the “greenhouse effect” because it was once believed that the glass panes of greenhouses captured the infrared radiation given off by the soil inside the greenhouse. (Keating, C. 2013)” The green houses can trap heated air and it becomes stuck but eventually releases the contained heat into space.” Some gases, including carbon dioxide, water vapor, and methane, capture and store infrared radiation, or heat, more efficiently than others and are called “greenhouse gases.” If the composition of the atmosphere changes to include more of these greenhouse gases, the atmosphere retains more heat and becomes warmer. (Keating, C. 2013)” These concepts contribute to the overall warming of the atmosphere. First Subheading

Global warming is caused by many things, but human impacts have a lot to do with the rise in temperature. “Global warming could be part of a normal climate cycle, be caused by natural events, or could arise because of the activities of humankind. (Keating, C. 2013)” Scientists are unsure of exact causes, but they know what is worsening global warming. This includes but is not limited to factors such as rise in greenhouse gases, deforestation for more land, operating factories and automobiles, livestock herds, and fertilizer used on farms. “Calculations demonstrate that human activity has released more than 1 trillion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere over the past two hundred years. (Keating, C.2013)” This number only happens to represent a fraction of how much carbon dioxide is actually in the air. Human impacts are a major instigator to why the earth’s atmosphere continually is getting warmer. Second Subheading Scientists are continually attempting to find ways to help reduce global warming. There are many ways to help reduce global warming by everyone doing their part. “Restraining global warming to no more than 2 degrees Celsius will require changing how the world produces and uses energy to power its cities and factories, heats and cools buildings, as well as moves people and goods in airplanes, trains, cars, ships and trucks, according to the IPCC. (Biello, D. 2014)” This will take the efforts of all countries to help learn and maintain efficient living styles that will not increase climate change. It is also important that people stop destroying and cutting down forests. Individually, people need to have behavior changes and adapt to new ways. This could mean carpooling, having flexibility with technology, and be energy sufficient. The steps presented can be very beneficial to the environment. Global warming has become one of the world’s top concerns. Some animals such as polar bears are a major indicator for the analyzation of climate change. If global warming continues to

Everyone can do their part to help minimize the harsh effects that could be soon to come. Overall, the environment is at stake because of the many factors that increase the temperature of the atmosphere to increase.
