 A Critique of “Ms.New Booty” by BubbaSparxxx Introduction The video i chose is “Ms New Booty” by Bubba Sparxx who is male rapper i chose this video because i remember hearing this song on the radio and never thinking much of it and because after watching it so many times i saw that these ideas are still very much alive today ,How a woman's body looks has always been something that people talk about in many negative ways it seems that people especially men always have comments about ways a woman can make her body look better to look more attractive in their eyes.

Social Construct Getting a bigger butt and showing it off has become society's norm. In “Ms.New Booty” Bubba has a bunch of women acting as though they are all excited to get a “new booty” the spokesperson Bubba ask to the group of women “ do you feel like you're lacking in your packing sometimes ?”, “do you want people to stop you on the street and ask if you have cantaloupes in your jeans” the women all reply yes with excitement. It seems Bubba used these groups of women to try to show that this is something all women want, He tries to create the illusion that it isn't just something men want for their own satisfaction that men & women have have some kind of mutual agreement about what makes their body worthy of approval.

Male Privilege Think about this how many men would sit down and listen to two women tell them the ways they should change themselves chances are they would probably laugh at her, get upset or just tell them all the ways they need to change. Men walk around on this “high horse” that they can go around saying what they want, look how they want, act how they want because they are not harshly judged. In Bubba's video he goes door to door giving women these “new bootys” there's a lyric where Bubba says “ girl i don't need you but

you need me” in this lyric he was speaking on women stripping for men to throw money at them. Many women turn to jobs such as stripping, prostituting etc. when they are struggling to support themselves there are far more jobs that are “fit” for men women are very limited in a workplace in terms of their career options and pay. Bubba is saying that women should change their bodies to look more attractive while stripping because at the end of the day even if they didn't want to change they're the ones who need the money so they need to please the men they are getting it from. “And I aint choose it, that thang chose me” this specific lyric in the song made me think about situations where women are told to dress a certain way so she can “ prevent” getting raped or the idea that men rape women because they're so attracted to a woman's body part they cannot control themselves

Self Objectification In the beginning of the video Bubba brings a women who has tried his new booty product, when she first comes on stage before her new booty the camera goes to the crowd and they have looks of disapproval about the way her body looks, and the women on stage makes a face as if she herself disapproves of her body. But after the product she is content with her body, Bubba and the women in the video make it seem as though women are nothing but a piece of ass, without it they will be unhappy and even broke. The Ying Yang twins whisper in a woman's ear “ when you shake it i guarantee you'll make all the dough” as if because a woman has those assets she has to use it to get money because it is the only thing about her that is useful.

Conclusion Watching this video so many times i thought about all the times i heard those lyrics at the age of 5-7 and how i never really cared about what was being said or even knew what it meant. Although this video is old it showed that men still do act this way and now

more than ever i am seeing women feel that having a big butt justifies them. Myself included catch myself looking in the mirror sometimes wondering if my butt would make me more attractive. If i would've never been exposed to songs and videos like these i wonder if my confidence would be higher, i loved doing this critique because it opened my eyes to the upsetting reality that for me and many other young girls these ideas have been being fed to us before we even knew it.

How do we stop young women and men from being brainwashed by society’s standards ?
