Reading response #15 Tupac was considered " a gangster revolutionary " before joing death row records. According to the reading, he made a calculated decision to stay within the shift so he could use gangster rap as a tool of advocacy on behalf of his black urban audience. From songs such as "dear mama" and "Brenda's got a baby", tupac chose to sell the image of Thug Life. He transformed into a sex symbol I personally always liked tupac because he was a force . He had a very artistic poetic side that I could relate to . He was a son of black panthers and made songs which also lifted the black community and spoke about oppresion , self love, realities of the ghetto and the fight we have as minorities in society. We all have good and evil inside of us and when it came to tupac, enjoyed his rebelous and poetic sides that he showed through his music. He made songs like "keep your head up" , "unil the end of time" " dear mama" and many songs even after his death which lead to a whole legacy and story in music. The struggle was inside himself as most of us have , we are not all perfect. I believe he got caught up in the fame and had anger built up from his childhood and not having a male role model in his life. Once he started to get publicity and in trouble with the law, he became more popular. Being a young hot head and not establishing a limit or realization of the extent of what you are portraying led to tupacs ultimate dimise. I feel as though he wanted to change the world but didn’t know how else to go about it , in addition to being shot the first time by someone he thought was his friend at quad studios i(associates of bigge allegedly). According to tupac, thug life consisted of many things , a support group, a rap act and a philosophy. The author , Marcus Reeves, mentions that" Neither the method of obtaining that control nor how such an ideology could offer support to black folks as a whole was ever clearly defined". I feel as though the author wonder what possible good can you bring out of the black community if you are portraying exactly what white people feel that most people are "Thugs". Tupac during his time, wanted to be a leader of his own following. He clearly explained what he wanted "thug life " to be similar to the panthers however, his lyrics came off as very violent. I feel as though he saw the power in music and the driving force in the commercial-ness but could flip it into a positive revolution. He wanted people to find hope in thug life but couldn’t portray it.

The circumstances which led up to his death were him trying to fit into his new death row family who consited of suge knight , snoop dogg and dr dre. Tupac neglected his views of thug life and went head on into making a diss track to bigge smalls in relation to him being shot at the studio by one of biggies men. Also his rhymes about women where very vulgar. Tupac was a rebellious warrior by tragically solidifying his legend after dying 6 days after being shot in a drive by. The author argue that tupac's legend is the music and ideology of conscious and that being a solider of the streets....
