Abbey Thomas Professor McClure American History 1 October 29, 2018 Ch.10 Journal Entry If I could save any person or event in chapter ten from being lost to all future generations I would save the Lewis and Clark expedition. The Lewis and Clark expedition was the “1804-1806 expedition led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark that explored the trans-Mississippi West for the U.S. government the expedition’s mission was scientific, political, and geographic” (The American Promise, pg. 251). Lewis and Clark created many relationships with Indian tribes on their expedition. They also collected a lot of information as well. I would save the Lewis and Clark expedition for future generations because the expedition is what discovered most of the west in the U.S. Lewis and Clark collected a lot of information during their travel. They also motivated other explorers who were like them. This is an important event in history and future generations should know about it. Another event or person I would save in chapter ten from being lost to all future generations would be Sacajawea. I would save Sacajawea because she played a major role in the Lewis and Clark expedition. She helped them find trails and made the two men look less suspicious to other Indian tribes. Without Sacajawea, the Lewis and Clark expedition might not have been successful.
