Abbey Thomas Professor McClure American History 1 September 27, 2018 Ch. 6 Journal Entry If I could save any person or event in history from chapter six from being lost to future generations I would chose to save the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was a “March 1770 incident in Boston in which British soldiers fired on an American crowd, killing five. The Boston Massacre became a rallying point for colonists who increasingly saw the British government as tyrannical and illegitimate” (The American Promise, pg. 148). This event was over within minutes. The acting governor, Hutchinson removed the regiments to an island to prevent any more bloodshed, and jailed eight soldiers and Captain Thomas Preston for their safety and promised they would go to trial (The American Promise, pg. 148). The Sons of Liberty held a funeral for the five killed in the massacre. All but two of the eight soldiers were acquitted, Captain Thomas Preston was also acquitted (The American Promise, pg. 149). I would save this event because this was a very important point in American history. It is important for future generations to know about the Boston Massacre and how and why it happened. This event was a game changer for many Britain’s who saw the government as unlawful. Future generations should know about this very important event in history because of the cause and effect of the events that followed it. Another event or person I would save from chapter six would be Tea in Boston Harbor. I would save this event because it is just as important as the Boston Massacre. Some believed this was a plot to trick Americans to buy the tea. Others believed that was an attempt to increase

revenue that would pay the salaries of royal governors and judges (The American Promise, pg. 150). This is important for future generations to know because it details one of the events of how the Sons of Liberty chose to fight back.
