Journal Entry Assignment 5 Using the Writing Strategy and Strategies for Academic Success has greatly improved my writing so far. Although I love being organized, I have never been one to plan out essays prior to writing them. Until this course, I have always found that I wrote better by letting my thoughts flow out and then going back and editing it for proper format, expectations, etcetera. For this reason, in grade-school, I never liked using graphic organizers. I felt they were a waste of time and I had always scored high on writing assignments, so I had no intentions of changing my method. When this course began, and I saw that planning materials were required, I was not excited in the slightest. However, after filling out the first organizer for the first essay, I changed my mind. I liked the way it was set up and made writing the essay much easier as it practically wrote itself so long as you filled it out completely. I feel very confident in my writing overall, but I think that I am best at providing supporting evidence. I have always understood that you will never be able to get a point across if no support is provided, and the more you have, the better the argument. The area I find to be the most challenging is, and most likely always will be, grammar. I feel that I can write well and be grammatically correct most of the time, however, I am still learning and improving as there are many rules to follow. My goals to improve my writing are to always utilize organizers, selfevaluate prior to submitting, and constantly work at understanding and eliminating grammatical mistakes....
