Please keep detailed notes as a portion of this assignment, including typedup notes from your interview along with your open-ended questions. Contacting an Interviewee Contact your potential interviewee via email, telephone or LinkedIn message. Begin early, as your request for an interview may be denied. It is a good idea to have four or five possible individuals to contact. Asking Questions and Taking Notes It is important to ask your interviewee open-ended questions: These are questions not easily answered by ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ Feel free to use the Networking & Informational Interviewing Guidebook for question ideas. Obtaining Feedback on your Resume and Cover Letter One of your goals from this interview may be to gain feedback on your resume and cover letter. An individual in your chosen field can give you specific industry information and advice. Thanking your Interviewee – after the Interview Be sure to send a thank you note to all interviewees after the interview. Make sure you acquire their mailing address or email address. Follow a business letter style format for your thank you note (respectful greeting, body paragraph[s] with complete sentences, and respectful closing). Writing a Response Essay Respond to this project with a 500+ word essay in which you discuss what you have learned from this information interview, how this information applies to you and your current plans, any questions you still have about this job/field, any plans you have to learn more about this field, and what you plan to do with this information in the future. The following information should also be included in the response essay:  The job area/field you have chosen for this assignment  The reason(s) why you have chosen this particular interviewee  The type of interview (face-to-face or telephone) and the time, date and location of the interview  The interviewee’s current occupation, job title, company name, work address and phone number/email address  Questions you asked during the interview Organizing Your Assignment 1.
