1 New Student Experience. Marsha Butler. Career interview assignment

 What is your current job title/position and how long have you been in this role? My current job is as an administrator of my own real state company and I have been in this role for 5 years. In addition, I used to administrate a lottery company for 8 years in which I gained experience.

 What do you enjoy most about your job? My favorite part of my job is the control of the finances.

 Do you work in a “team” or “independent” environment? I do my work independent, but in the company are others employment doing other things so at the same time there are a team but in other field of work.

 What do you like least about your job? In my case, the thing I like least about my job is when I have to treat the employees conflicts.

 What was your major in college? I went to a 4 years’ university in my country; so, I didn’t attend to a college and my degree was business and administration.

2 Reflect on your Interview The career path of Business and Administration is very interesting. There are many works in which you can work. For example, a small company in the town or taking decisions in one of the biggest company of the world. However, this career aligns with my purpose, because if I reach this degree, I can motivate people to don’t surrender in the pursue of their degree and motivate them.

The individual I interview has a degree on Business and Administration. She has been working in this field for more than 20 years, but 5 years ago she created her own company which is a real state one. In addition, she manages the administration part of the business. Basically, her work is to administrates the financial part of the company.

The professional took the path I best imagine, which is manage her own company, because she could take al the decision on it. It was the unusual path because most of the Business and Administrators would have a company related to that title or work at a company related to it, but her was a real state company. For this reason, I wish more to pursue this degree, due to it demonstrate that there is a big field for the business and administration career, because in her case, she actually manages a company of real state.

Finally, after the interview, I decided to still pursuing these career, because the information I got was useful and help me clarify my interest on it. Besides, I realize the negative side of this degree, but it didn’t change my mind due to the positive things overcome the negative ones. Furthermore, one of the best things that I learn about the interview was that we have to work hard to achieve our goals and nothing comes easy, because what easy comes, easy goes....
