ACCT 221 June 4th, 2020 Career Exploration Assignment When people think of attending college after high school, it is a challenge to get through many years of hard work. The hardest part of completing college is the aftermath of finding a decent job to provide in the long run. With many people relying on student loans to get through college, people typically do not find their most ideal job after college and settle for a profession that pays less just to stay afloat and/or pay student loans back As a student who is currently not seeking employment, I browsed the University of Maryland Global Campus Career Quest Site for resources @ https://www.umgc.edu/currentstudents/career-services/careerquest.cfm. This website sets up success for not only UMGC students seeking employment but also for employers because it helps build connections. Under the Career Services, there are four links that students can access called the following: Job and Internship Search, Job Fairs and Career Events, Career Planning, and CareerQuest. These resources are easy to access and encourage students on how to be successful in their journey for a suitable profession. I have not registered for a Career Quest account but will most likely do this after I graduate. I do recommend that students who are able too, to seek out an internship while working on their degree. It helps boost the resume and will give more experience to the degree. This website is very close to the idea of Linked in, where UMGC helps connect students to future employers. I would recommend using the Career Planning link for students close to graduating or already graduating since it can help you stay organized and on the path to success. It is required for me to have ACCT 221 Principles of Accounting II in my degree. As an Event Manager, I use a lot of math to figure out formulas for ordering food for my events however, I do not use that much accounting information. Whenever I do branch out of my career though and use my degree, I will use this site to be able to find something that meets more towards my degree. ACCT 221 will help me broaden my knowledge when it comes to understanding a company and their numbers. I can use this to my advantage to see if a company has been struggling or shows signs of success throughout the years....
