Career Exploration Assignment An important facet to finding the career that is most suitable for you is researching careers that match your interests. Career exploration helps connect your major to a career by identifying and exploring potentially satisfying occupations. This assignment is designed to familiarize you with the resources that can help answer important questions about the careers you are considering. In addition, it will invite you to assess how well a given career “fits” your interests, values, skills and personality style. This assignment helps select an initial career pathway or at least begin to explore possible careers. After completing the self-assessments, select one career of interest and investigate the occupation according to the criteria listed below.

Criteria What is your field of study? (Major and Concentration) What is your career of interest? (Job Title) Describe in detail the tasks/duties a person in this occupation would perform. (Job Description) Identify the employment settings. (Where you might work) Describe the working conditions of a person employed in this occupation (hours, work environment, etc.) What is the starting salary of someone in this career? What education / training is needed? What courses should I take to prepare for this career? What aptitudes/abilities/interests/values should a person in this occupation possess and why?
