Description

Zachary Banter 2/26/2018 ACCT102 Cashflow Quadrant Chapters 11 and on After the short series of chapters eleven to eighteen, the book Rich Dad Poor Dad: Cashflow Quadrant is finished. This book did teach me quite a bit, such as different ways to look at risk and investing. The author, Robert Kiyosaki, also mentioned the concept of the cashflow quadrant. The cashflow quadrant is really just another way to look at income, containing just 4 letters, E B S and I, representing ‘employee’, ‘small business or selfemployeed’, ‘big business’ and ‘investor. The idea is that you fall into the category that your income comes from. For example, I am an employee as I work for paychecks, so I would fall into the E category. The author then goes to make statements about these categories, like in chapter three when he writes ‘Unfortunately, financial security and financial freedom are seldom found in the E or the S quadrant’. This statement is obviously incorrect. There are tons of people who, according to the book would be in E or S categories, are financially secure. This is a common complaint I have across the author’s work, his general distaste for normal work. He constantly insists that having a normal nine to five job or being employed is not the way to go, and that investing and making money make money is the correct way to generate income. I would disagree with this, I think there is a constant necessity for these common jobs. If every kid invested their senior year of high school instead of getting a terrible part time fast food job then there wouldn’t be as many (if any) fast food workers. This same idea follows to other jobs, as these young adults would then not go to college, leaving lots of needed societal positions to be

filled. This, however, is my biggest complaint of this book. I think there are certainly some decent ideas on this book, but that there are many incorrect assumptions about the working class.
