Taste Article o When we survey the history of rock music, how do we decide what to include? o Our taste in music is often created through  Aesthetic value  Economic value  Social value  Historical value The Advantages of Tastelessness o When tasteless, all music assumes equal value o Everything becomes revelatory when studied o We can choose what to study based on preference provided it doesn’t link with value o “Liking” a piece has nothing to do with its inherent value Tastelessness and this Course o Tastelessness frees us from needing to cover XYZ bands. Basically, indifference to what we learn. No bias. o We choose examples that can lead us to larger conversations...
