Description

OMITTED AUTHOR 03/XX/14 Interview Questions 1. Tell me about yourself. I am an extremely ambitious individual and have participated in many commitments performing different duties. For example, I am part of IBA (International Business Association) as an event coordinator, planning social and fundraising events like the Mahjong potluck which involve members bring in different foods and learning how to play another culture game called “Mahjong. In addition, I am also the public relation committee officer for SOMMA (School of Minority Management Alliance); I assist with enhancing the club’s image by redesigning our bulletin board, placing flyers about our cake pop fundraising event, and much more. I follow my beliefs and work philosophy.

I have a strict policy of putting all my effort on whatever

responsibility I have, whether it was the course I enroll in, or committee positions.

2. What are your first two strengths and what is your weakness? Besides having the drive to succeed, the first two strengths that come to mind is adaptability and commitment. I am able to pick on skills relatively quickly and refine on them until mastery. One primary example is when I started volunteering for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), I had absolutely no experience with tax whatsoever but in the end I manage to quickly pick up how to fill out tax returns after watching another experienced volunteer do it twice and to this day still record down new things I learn when tax payers bring documents I never filled before. Another strength is my commitment to whatever goals or responsibilities I have called upon myself. I am committed as an SOMMA’s public relation officer by taking the responsibility of placing flyers early in the morning before any class start, as a member of UBAA

(University of Buffalo Accounting Association) I am committed in making the most out of the membership by participating beyond on the number of events require, and as a member of IBA’s event committee, I am committed in regularly meeting up with the E broad and event committee to go over what events are plan for the month.

3. Tell me about a time when you failed to meet a deadline. I remember when I was in Chinese class last semester; I miss the deadline for the workbook assignment. The workbook assignment is worth about 5 homework which is almost worth as much as a group presentation. I missed the workbook assignment because I was so used to my professor having the due date of the workbook assignment on test days so I just assume it was due during our test day but it turns out the workbook was due on the day of the presentation which is generally a day before our test. As a result, I gotten 50% off for handing the assignment late the next day but I have learn to always keep of a record of important information I would like to refer to later. Now a day I always keep records of everything, from a shopping list, goals to achieve, upcoming schedule, and etc. My professor also from then on writes all the deadlines on the board instead of mentioning it since other students tend to miss it coming in later or not paying attention.

4. Tell me about a time when you worked in a team and how you moved the team to a positive conclusion. When I was taking communication class, I had a marketing project that involves promoting a local community business, in my case it was Tim Horton. I worked in a group of four where each of us had a part of presentation that we each specialize in. We each came up with different

methods of advertisement such as brochures, coupons, trade in events, and etc. Although of each of us had a part that we specialize in, we all split the introduction which covers the Tim Horton’s company’s history, type of business, and a brief summary of the methods of advertisement my group came up with. However, when it was time to present all the other members introduced themselves but were stuck on how to start so in that moment I took the spotlight introducing the company we done our project on and made a smooth transition to the other members to present their method of advertisement. We end up getting a ninety five on the project and recognition for our presentation.

5. Tell me why you are applying to Deloitte. Well I really feel that Deloitte really emphasis on advisory and have a great advisory practice after checking Deloitte’s website. The way Deloitte offers a huge vary of advisory practice such as financial advisory, risk advisory and with the newest one being the AERS-Advisory practice that I am currently applying for, really shows that me that advisory is a huge part in Deloitte. I also like Deloitte’s work ethics in giving back to the community by making an impact with programs like IMPACT day, Teach For America, The Future Fund, because I too understand the necessity of giving back by participating in UB Breathe Free Cigarettes buds pickup and VITA.

6. Develop three questions that you would like to ask interviewer about the position, company, and industry. What is the next step? When do you think you will be making a decision? How do you see this industry’s growth in the future? What do you enjoy the most about working in Deloitte?...
