CBOS Purpose: Define minimum skills and competencies you need to develop and demonstrate in order to enter the Speech Pathology profession Entry level: the level of skill and competency need to graduate with a SPA accredited Competence: knowledge, skills and attitude enacted in a professional context to a defined ‘level’ and practicing within the appropriate scope. - Effective service provision - Act professionally and ethically - Able to reflect about and understand own skills and practise.
Use CBOS to synthesise how the component you are allocated relates to competency 1. What is the component and What part of CBOS does it come from? 2. How might it apply to SLP practice (are there youtube, websites, posts etc that might help us to understand better) 3. Why is it an important part of our competency (how does it contribute when we are working with people) 4. As students how do we learn more about this part of our practise (are there any links with the SPTH topics we study in year 1? What about future topics?) where will it come in the curriculum. 5. Looking at the competency units (from p10-38) how does this component relate to the units and elements (not all will apply) EVIDENCE BASED LEARNING
Evidence Based Learning: using the best, research-proven assessments and treatments in our day-to day client care and service delivery. Treatments are Component is evidence based learning. Can be found in Unit 3 of the CBOS, Planning evidence-based speech pathology practices. Is also present in 4.2. May link to unit 5: Planning and providing and managing speech pathology services in order to maintain evidence based service. Important because it aims to provide the most effective care that is available. Patients expect to receive the best available care based on all the available evidence.
