Micro Research Assignment 2 Building Connections on Campus
These articles are solely about the Involvement of students in college/university activities. Most of the students these days are attending colleges just for the sake of getting that degree in the hand. They don’t care about anything else. After completion of their studies, they don’t even remember the names of courses they attended in their initial semesters. It's all because of the lack of attention and involvement. St. Scholastica and US news are emphasizing on the importance of participating in clubs and skillful activities in schools. They also talk about the way a student can get involved in these. Getting into activities comes with numerous opportunities. Most important is time management. Students who try other stuff than their academic syllabus are more susceptible to keep track of their time so that they don’t miss out on anything. Meeting people around the campus promotes collaboration which eventually leads to the well-rounded experience of college outside the classroom. Students who are oblivious about their future should try everything at least once so that they can understand their expertise and interest in life. I have personally dodged the question of “what you want to do in future” numerous times in my high school. Then I started to focus more on my strengths, my likes and dislikes. That’s when I realized that it’s not coding or programming that I want to do for the rest of my life instead it is music production. Meeting new people and talking to people about their past and their experiences encouraged me a lot. I was too shy to talk to people. I considered everyone to be superior to me but now I have realized that everyone is the same as me. Singing out in open or dancing at occasions does not make me uncomfortable anymore. This is because my self-confidence level has been

boosted by these conversations with people around me. Other than that, there are various quizzes offered by universities to determine the area of interest of every kind of student. These can allow students to build their skill set according to their future needs. These topics have provoked me, even more, to get into activities. One that I have been thinking from a long time to do is get into Bhangra Club at UFV. I procrastinated when there was time and now, I am too busy with assignments that it is getting difficult to take out time during workshop hours as I have work shift or class. But I am trying to manage my time and learn the Bhangra on my own at home. Moreover, in the previous class, we had Sarah as a visitor in UNIV class and she introduced a lot of club and activities that International students can be part of. I never cared to notice but now I will surely visit the global lounge to be part of events. Getting involved is not hard at all. One has to understand that it is an ongoing process and it may even prove to be time waste or failure in some instances but overall it is not going to be disappointment at all. The university experience is a onetime experience at a young age, and it depends on an individual if they want to make it worth the time and money or just do it for the sake of doing.
