Examinations: 

  

The scantron is the official answer sheet, or record of your work. While you may have the correct answer in your test booklet, it is considered a worksheet and not the official answer sheet. Each student is responsible for making sure his or her final answers are submitted accurately on the answer sheet. Testing Etiquette: Students must place book bags and purses along the walls during tests. Once a test has started, students will not be permitted to leave the classroom until they have completed the test. Therefore, be prepared; use the restroom before coming to class, have 2 pencils, and any other needed items i.e. tissues, cough drops, or drink. If a student leaves the classroom he/she cannot come back into the classroom until everyone has finished the test. Once a student has completed a test they must leave the classroom and will not be allowed to re-enter until everyone has completed the test. While waiting on others to finish testing, do not congregate in the hall outside the test classroom. A late exam is any exam not taken at the designated date and time. Exams will begin promptly at 8:30 am. If a student is tardy, a 5% deduction will be made for tardiness the day of the missed exam until 5:00pm that same day. If a student is tardy and takes the exam on the scheduled exam date, the 5% penalty will be incurred. Make-up exams are subject to an initial 10% reduction in the exam grade, with a 10% deduction for each day late. The student must contact the course facilitator on the day of the exam (BEFORE class begins) to make arrangements for the missed exam. Any missed exam must be made up within three (3) days of the exam day excluding days when the campus is closed. Make-up exams must be taken at the Academic Support Center (ASC) in the AND60 building. You must call the ASC and SCHEDULE a time to take the exam. Extenuating circumstances are evaluated at the discretion of the course facilitator. Make up test will NOT be given during class, clinical, or lab time. Each exam will have 50 questions and will be worth 50 points each. The final exam will be a cumulative exam with 100 questions worth 100 points. There will be NO extra credit. You will have seventy (70) minutes on each exam and two (2) hours and 10 minutes (10) for the final exam. Exam Scoring: Exams will be calculated at 90% of the grade. Assignments will be calculated at 10% of the grade. If there are no assignments, the exams will count as 100% of the grade. If a 75% or less is received on a test, the student is required to meet with the facilitator to review and include in the students success plan. This is the student responsibility to allow time to complete this form within 48 hours of the exam. No student test review/read back will be given until every student has taken the test. 4.

Examinations and Assignments: To successfully pass this course, an average of 75% must be achieved at the end of the course. If there are any required assignments (homework) during the course, the total percentage on the assignments will be calculated as 10% of the final course grade. Exams will be calculated at 90% of the grade. Calculating Final Grades Example The calculation will include two steps: one for 90% of exams and quizzes, the other for 10% of assignments. Total number of possible points for exams: 500 pts. 1. Divide the number of points the student earned by the total number of points for all course exams and multiply this by 0.90. This will give you a total percent for the exams weighted at the necessary 90%. a. Student total scores for exams 435 ÷ 500 x .90 = 78.4 (step one) 2. Divide the number of points a student earned on assignments by the total number of points for course assignments and multiply this by 0.10. This will give you a total percent for the assignments weighted at the necessary 10%. a. Student total scores for assignments 133 ÷ 155 x .10 = 8.5% (step two) 3. Add both percentages together and that is the total percentage for the class. This is the final percent earned by the student for this course and per Ivy Tech Community College policy, is not rounded.
