Description

This website was created by the government sector to discuss the standards of the national safety and quality health services (NSQHS). The objective is to guard the public from misconduct and to improve the quality of the health sector and further dictate clinical practice. Relevance

The article is beneficial for my assignment as it explores what is clinically appropriate in education for clinical deterioration within nursing, in order to promote the best level of safe care for the patient.

Description

This article discusses the implementation of education and management to improve the escalation of care that occurs in patients with alcohol withdrawal. It delves into the flaws our current system has and provides ways this can be reduced to maximise the care for these vulnerable patients. Relevance

I found this useful as I will venture into clinical deterioration amongst those individuals experiencing alcohol withdrawal in our health systems. I will discuss how we can bridge the education gap for nurses who will care for patients with this increasing issue within our workplace.

Description

This article provides knowledge on clinical deterioration in patients within a hospital setting. It discusses the flaws and instability of the current system and intentions to improve frameworks for the future. Relevance

I found this article particularity significant in providing myself with a clear and concise understanding of the topic of clinical deterioration.

Description

This article discussed the PDSA cycle of Plan, Do, Study and Act, delving into maintaining quality during an educational program. It dictates how to perform a thorough overview of how to instate quality improvement in an area that not performing at an optimal level.

Relevance I found this reference important in creating my own quality improvement project, as it actively demonstrated how to perform this cycle in regards to educational sessions. In my project I will be instigating educational sessions to recorrect this learning gap for clinical deterioration amongst our nursing staff.

Description

This article discourses if implementing a national standard actually improved the response and recognition in the hospital setting of clinical deterioration, showing data to concur this statement. Relevance

The article has structured my proposal for clinical deterioration for nursing with the applied implementation of education and standards. The need for successful improvement of recognition and response, in regards to clinical deterioration, is vital for my proposal.

Description

This article reflects ward nurses current understanding of clinical deterioration. By first considering that, it then assesses what changes were necessary to later bridge the literacy gap to improves nurse’s response in a clinical deterioration scenario. Relevance

I found this article entirely helpful as it examined the root of the issue, which is gaps in knowledge that ward nurses have surrounding clinical deterioration. It then identified what was necessary for me to explore in ways of education programs to improve this situation.

Description

This article explores the advanced program idea of “just-in-time training” which teaches the nursing cohort of how to recognise and respond to a clinically deteriorating patient. Relevance

I found this relevant to my chosen topic, as this program was implemented via the PDSA cycle and was very successful in its aims as the prevalence of nurse escalated care with significantly lower to 5.5% from 20%. This will be great inspiration for my project proposal.

Description

This article provides an essential overview of the current recognition and response hospitals have to clinical deterioration. It highlighted the growing concern for this increasingly trending situation of need for escalation of care and how to focus on rectifying this issue. Relevance

I found this article vital for my project proposal, as it states the objective data around the need for quality improvement in this area of nursing. It will be important in showing a baseline once the changes are put in place to identify if the implementation was viable or not....
