Personal Ethics Statement In assessing my own personal stance on the principles of medical ethics, I stress the importance of fairness and being just without bias across the workplace -- despite possible financial rewards or boundaries. In promoting equal rights for all, I believe that being able to rely on a code of ethics or standard of operations is imperative. For example, standards and regulations established by the Joint Commission are a great place for administrators to start when seeking to formalize ethics policies across a facility or system. As an administrator, I will use such organizations as “big picture” standards off which I can then base my own. I think the biggest ethical takeaway is my understanding that society and business operations play a large roll on ethics and values, and that these concepts can be vastly different between individuals, resulting in ethical dilemmas (Jones and Bartlett). Thus, laying out clear policies, such as the Planetree Model exhibits, will make or break my ability as an administrator to remain true to my ethical bottom line: possessing and displaying moral integrity across the realm of healthcare as a whole (Jones and Bartlett).
