WRITINGS

I AM A CHRONIC PROCRASTINATOR I would like to start today with a confession. I procrastinate on almost all of my assignments and assigned tasks in my day-to-day life. I even waited until the last minute to write this essay. Well, of all the times I put off something that needed to be done. One that always comes to my mind is the time I had to submit a project for the literature course. Indeed, I never researched and I ended up improvising on the subject. Here is what happened… Two weeks before the last exam, the teacher of literature left a project for those students who would like to have extra points for the last exam. Therefore, as I had not been presenting the assignments. I had an obligation to do it because the teacher would average the notes we had in assignments with the last note. Instead of being focused on my responsibilities, I focused on winning a tournament from one of my favorite videogames. Besides, as always, I procrastinate on my assignments until the end. I decided to put aside my responsibilities with the project because I was sure that the tournament would end earlier than I expected and I could have enough time to advance with the project. However, I was wrong. I did not have the knowledge that the teacher moved up the date of the project because I was more entertained with the game. The day of the project had arrived. That day the teacher had explained a part of the subject to guide us and to take into account some points on the subject. Thanks to that, I can understand the

subject, and at the time of presenting my project, I was not lost. But anyway, I didn't do well. In conclusion, I hope to be more responsible and not to keep putting off all my tasks until the end. Also, procrastination can have external consequences (you get a zero on the paper because you never turned it in) or internal consequences (you feel anxious much of the time, even when you are doing something that you enjoy).

MY STUDY HABITS

As a student, I have the worse studying method. Studying for a test is one of my fears. You know how some students can sit in one spot, and never get bored. Well, I am the kind of student that can seat in one spot for just a few moments and then get lazy and wanted to give up. I want to change the way I study so I can improve my grades. Here are the things I need to correct in my studying habits: The first thing I need to do is to find a place where I can think and do my homework without being distracted because I am a person who gets distracted easily. Distractions have a negative influence on study time. I think it is important to eliminate all forms of distractions, including mobile devices. Therefore, I will not have distractions, and I will be more focused on studying. So, I will try to study in a quiet environment that minimizes distractions. Another thing I need to do is stop procrastinating on most of my homework or projects of my studies. Procrastination is the worst habit that I have. When I have to do my homework, I get lazy and look for any excuse not to do it. To change that, I think I need to make my schedule of daily activities. So, I will have enough time to do all my tasks and will not only that also I will be more organized in my day-to-day. The last thing I need to do is stop reading quickly and do a comprehensive read when I study. Every time I try to study, especially the history courses, I read as fast as possible to finish. This is wrong because several texts need to be re-read until we understand what we are trying to learn. I think to change that I have to make summaries to understand better the subject. In conclusion, for me to change my studying habits, I know that I have to make many changes in my life. I need to have purpose, activities, and goals. The purpose that I would like to change in my studying habit is to be a better student. I cannot be a brilliant student if all I do is being lazy in my studies....
