Description of Skill health care provided before a surgical operation. The aim of preoperative care is to do whatever is right to increase the success of the surgery. At some point before the surgery the health care provider will assess the fitness of the person to have surgery.

Indications Surgery. Csection is indicated if the mother shows signs of fetal stress, placental abruption, HELLP syndrome, oliguria, pulmonary edema, eclampsia or uncontrol increased BP

Outcomes/Evaluation Patient is prepared for the appropriate surgey Assessing and correcting physiological and psychological problems that may increase surgical risk. Giving the patient and significant others complete learning and teaching guidelines regarding the surgery.

Potential Complications Anxiety decreased pulmonary function. poor tissue oxygenation. infection. wound healing. cardiovascular events.

CONSIDERATIONS

Nursing Interventions (pre, intra, post) monitor vital signs and prepare the client for surgery. NPO as ordered. In emergency C sections special preparations cannot always be performed. Medications to control infection is given. nurse assist with positioning of the patient for anesthesia

Client Education -inform client about the procedure and what to expect after the surgery. -Instruct patient to use detergent– germicide for several days at home -Have the patient use the toilet or bedside commode rather than the bedpan for evacuation of the enema, unless the patient’ s condition presents some contraindication.
