CONSIDERATIONS
Nursing Interventions (pre, intra, post) Position the client in a supine position with chest exposed, Attach one electrode to each of the client’s extremities by applying electrodes to flat surfaces above the wrists and ankles and the other six electrodes to the chest, avoiding chest hair. Instruct the client to remain still and breathe normally while the 12‑lead ECG is performed. Monitor the client for manifestations of dysrhythmia. Remove leads from the client, print the ECG report, and notify the provider. Apply a Holter monitor if the client is on a telemetry unit and/or needs continuous cardiac monitoring. Continue to monitor the client for dysrhythmia
Client Education Instruct the client to remain still and breathe normally while the 12‑lead ECG is performed. Provide education regarding ECG findings provided by the HCP or cardiologist.
Nursing Interventions monitor patients heart rhythms, and communicate with PCP about any irregularities. Provide privacy for patient and keep patient comfortable.
