Complications -Breathing problems -Nausea and vomiting -Dizziness, weakness, tremors -Throbbing headache -Feeling nervous, anxious or fearful
Medication Administration -IM, IV, Topical, Inhalation, Intracardiac -Not given orally, medication degrades too quickly and will not distribute.
Contraindications/Precautions -Increases cardiac activity can cause myocardial infarction or major dysrhythmias in individuals with ischemic heart disease -Wheezing in the elderly
Nursing Interventions -Monitor vital signs especially blood pressure, heart rate, and respirations -Assess for pulmonary edema -Monitor blood glucose levels
Interactions -Tricyclic -Antidepressants -MAOIs -Antihistamines
Client Education Evaluation of Medication Effectiveness -Symptoms of anaphylaxis are diminished.
