PURPOSE OF MEDICATION

Expected Pharmacological Action similar to opioid analgesics. It works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain.

Therapeutic Use used to help relieve moderate to moderately severe pain.

Complications sleepiness,difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, headache,nervousness uncontrollable shaking of a part of the body, muscle tightness, changes in mood,heartburn or indigestion,dry mouthnausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weakness, or dizziness,inability to get or keep an erection,irregular menstruation,changes in heartbeat, loss of consciousness

Medication Administration tablet, immediate-release 50-100mg capsule, extended release: 100mg -300mg 50 mg/ml solution for injection or infusion may be administered intramuscularly, by slow intravenous injection

Contraindications/Precautions decreased function of the adrenal gland.symptoms from alcohol withdrawal.suicidal behavior.suicidal thoughts.alcoholism.alcohol intoxication.drug abuse. depression. should NOT use tramadol if have severe asthma or breathing (respiratory depression) or lung problems, a bowel blockage or narrowing, or an allergy to tramadol.
