Description

PSY 260 Project One Lindsay Waldron Professor Ubinger November 21, 2021

Introduction: Describe the purpose of your memo and the plan to address the scenario in 1 to 3 sentences. The purpose of this memo is to provide support to the non-profit and understand how empathy can be used to target different audiences. This information will be used to better provoke empathy to acquire donors and obtain donations. Conclusions: Describe your findings in an executive summary of 4 to 6 sentences. Include the following in your conclusions:  The main points you want to convey to your audience  Rationale for your points in the form of data summaries The purpose of this memo was to obtain donations based on an empathy score used to target specific audiences. The data shows that all classes have a relatively high empathy rating towards others. The middle and working class have the highest scores, with overall average empathy scores of 4.06 and 4.01 respectively. The upper class had an empathy score of 3.95, which was only slightly lower. This class has not been targeted as much as the the middle and working class, despite the high empathy recorded towards others. With the means to give and the high empathy scores, the recommended target audience is upper and middle class. Discussion: Main Analysis: Describe the summary statistics and frequency distributions, taking into account the scale of measurement for your data. Refer to the graphs you created. Your main analysis section should be about 2 to 5 sentences. The average empathy ratings showed that all classes were fairly close regarding empathy score. The highest responding classes were middle and working, which also had the highest average empathy scores. Upper and lower class were the lowest responders, and also had slightly lower average empathy scores. This indicates that a higher empathy score relates to more of an inclination to respond to the survey. Graph One: Create a graphical representation of the qualitative (nominal and often ordinal) data to support your main analysis. Ensure your graph meets the following criteria:  You include a narrative to introduce your graph into your memo. 1

   

Your graph is accurate and objective. Your graph appropriately represents the data. You use the appropriate type of graph for the data. Your graph is labeled appropriately.

Graph Two: Create a graphical representation of the quantitative (interval and/or ratio) data to support your main analysis. Ensure your graph meets the following criteria:  You include a narrative to introduce your graph into your memo.  Your graph is accurate and objective.  Your graph appropriately represents the data.  You use the appropriate type of graph for the data.  Your graph is labeled appropriately.

Recommendations: Describe the actions you believe your audience should take in 2 to 5 sentences. The recommendation is that the upper class be targeted more. These donors have a similar empathy score to the middle class and the means to contribute to the success of the organization. The data shows that this audience has both the desire and the financial ability to provide donations. Limitations: Describe the limitations of both your data and your summaries in 1 to 3 sentences. The number of respondents in each class varies significantly. This could affect the averages, specifically in the lower and upper classes who have fewer respondents. More respondents in each of those classes may affect the overall empathy average and therefore affect the recommendations for targeting.
